St. James’ is experiencing positive momentum and renewed energy! This is a good time to look FORWARD to our short- and long-term plans for the future of our parish. We’re engaging YOU in a thorough discovery process to define our spiritual purpose and priorities; to discern where God is calling us as a parish now and in the future.
We are looking for the opinions of current members of St. James’ Episcopal Church, Pewee Valley, but we also welcome and value the opinions of past members and extended family or friends who sometimes attend services. Your honest opinion is welcome even if you have found another church home.
SURVEY
In 2026, St. James' Episcopal Church conducted a Congregational Opinion Survey to better understand the experiences, priorities, and hopes of its members as the parish considers its path forward. The content of the survey was shaped by a similar parish survey conducted in 2015, the FORWARD Visioning Team, St. James’ vestry and rector, and Rev. Canon Dr. Jason Lewis. The survey was publicized to the congregation through email, direct mail, and Facebook, and ultimately drew 53 responses.

VISIONING DAY, JUNE 20
More than two dozen parishioners met for a 3.5 hour process facilitated by Rev. Jason Lewis, Canon for Congregational Vitality for the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. The group heard a presentation of preliminary survey results and then took part in small group discussions. Topics included: What People Love About St. James’, Core Values, and Vision for the Future. Notes are on display on flip chart paper in Gleason Hall. Also in Gleason Hall are boards with post-it note responses to a series of questions. The Visioning Day Report includes summaries of both the Visioning Day process and comments provided on the boards throughout the month of June.

HISTORY PROJECT, GLEASON HALL AND ONLINE
As we began the FORWARD initiative, the Visioning Team created a digital visual display with captions of events throughout the history of St. James from church archives and from current parishioners.
