Loading...The St. James’ Vestry began a process of Mutual Ministry Review Tuesday evening, December 17.
The Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of KY, the Rev. Cn. Amy Coultas, joined the Vestry to discuss just what this is, what it entails, and how congregations, especially leadership teams, can be enhanced by its practice.
"Mutual Ministry Review is intended to nurture environments where responsibilities are discussed and reviewed regularly and comfortably. As a result, communities and individuals will understand what is expected of them. Roles will be clarified, and time and energy centered on what is important for the building up of the Body of Christ.” [Diocese of Washington]
It was a very enlightening evening for Rev. Coultas and the Vestry and helped provide a focused track on determining next steps for a “…sound, healthy stewardship” in 2014 and years to come.
The vestry will continue its discussion of the Mutual Ministry Review at the vestry retreat at All Saints Jan 17-18, 2014. The Rev. Canon Jason Lewis, Canon for Congregational Vitality in the Diocese of KY, will join us at that time to assist us in discerning some concrete and actionable steps that we can undertake toward the goals we have established.
The vestry also voted to begin publishing the monthly minutes on the St James website. Vestry meetings are always open to all members of the parish to attend, and we hope that all parishioners will take a few moments to read the minutes and be aware of what the vestry is addressing.
We also welcomed newly elected vestry member Ed Heymann at this meeting and said goodbye to exiting member Debbie Stover, whom we thank for three years of tireless service.
