FORWARD St. James’ - You’re Invited!

This spring and summer we had great participation from parishioners in our parish survey and Visioning Day to help us better know who we are as a church community, and what our main priorities should be in the future. Now, we’re on to the next phase of work.

Dream Chats

Our next step is to take our priorities, narrow them down, and determine how to accomplish them. We initially intended a follow up survey, but we felt we would better understand what parishioners are passionate about by hosting several conversations at coffee hour after Sunday worship.

Next Steps

Dream Chats are intended to be a progression of conversations. What we learn this week will be applied at the next session. We plan more Dream Chats for Oct. 11 and 18. In addition, to allow more people to participate, we will send brief surveys by email with the same 3 questions from the Dream Chats. Finally, we plan to reach out to St. James’ ministries to stop into their meetings and get their input.

FORWARD St. James Visioning Process and Timeline 

• March 2026:  Developed FORWARD St. James’ Visioning Team to collaborate with the Vestry in facilitating and overseeing the process; ultimately resulting in a 2–3-year Mission and Ministry Plan. 
• May-June 2026: 
  Revisiting our history 
  Implement survey 
  FORWARD St. James’ Visioning Day
• July 2026: Report out to parish of survey results and Visioning Session outcomes  
  September-October 2026: Follow up conversations and surveys building off insights gained from the Visioning Session, focused on HOW we are going to achieve our goals.  
• Fall 2026: Final report to the vestry from the Visioning Team which includes a strategic plan for 2027-2030. Vestry adoption of the report in time for the 2027 budgeting process.
