ON Sunday, I Spoke about Jesus as the Gate

Roaming with the Rector

On Sunday I talked about Jesus as the Gate. How a 'gate' is a barrier that provides both protection and freedom.

As I am writing this, I am downloading Norton, a security software, onto my laptop.

With this Norton 'gate,' I believe I will find both protection and freedom.

Protection, hopefully, from nefarious behavior like we experienced last week. This is not the only form of protection St. James' is implementing after the text that was NOT from me. Annie has been exceptionally busy, trying to figure out where the breach came from. As a result, she has done some things to keep us safe: Passwords are being changed. Our internet provider sent a technician to double-check our system. She's been researching and asking questions of computer experts. She's been vigilant in trying to ensure our network is protected.

Knowing our systems are protected at the church will hopefully mean that an extra layer of protection has been placed on you and your personal information.

Being aware of this kind of protection can provide a sense of freedom from the fear of real threats from bad actors. We don't want you to worry! We want you to trust that we are doing as much as we can to ensure your privacy.

Protection and freedom. Those are just two of the things Jesus wants us to experience in our relationship with our Holy Trinity. It is through our faith and trust in God that we will find the deep sense of both.

Protect us, Gate of God, when we rest in you, when we trust in you.

Cover us with that protection, so that when we go out of the safety of your Gate,

we will know freedom from fear and freedom to tell others about your love.

Amen.

Resting in the safety of our Lord,
