Loading...I am especially grateful and deeply honored to be with you this evening. I served as a rector for many years, most of them at St. Alban’s Parish on the grounds of Washington Cathedral. One of the ministries I liked best was working with students from Virginia Theological Seminary. Your new rector was one of the brightest and best of a large and impressive group. I enjoyed being part of her formation as a priest. It never occurred to me that over twenty years later she would call and ask me to share in a moment like this. I am glad she asked me – thank you Elizabeth – but my job in the next few minutes is to do what I can to make you glad she asked me. And to do that requires making some connection between the Gospel, this fresh mix of priest and congregation, and the future you will be sharing. Let’s see if we can do that.
