Loading...Holy Week is here! As we begin our preparations for the Easter Triduum, we also wrap up Lent Madness 2019. As you’ll recall, we began with 32 ‘competitors’ divided equally between Biblical, Monastics & Martyrs, Mostly Modern, and Miscellaneous saints. Now we are down to the Faithful 4, and on Wednesday evening will celebrate the winner of the Golden Halo.
One piece of Lent Madness trivia for you. The Golden Halo match and award occur on Spy Wednesday! In case you’ve never heard of Spy Wednesday, here is the explanation from The Definitive Guide to Lent Madness:
The Wednesday in Holy Week, so named because the gospel reading tells of Judas’s betrayal of Jesus. More importantly, it’s the final day of Lent Madness, and the Golden Halo winner is declared.
Interestingly, the Faithful 4 are all women saints; each one with their own compelling story. Except for Martha of Bethany, they began Lent Madness as lesser or even unknown saints. However, thanks to the bloggers, we now have an appreciation of their lives and their charitable works.
