Lent is Getting Closer

Joseph R. John February 05, 2020

It’s 36 days into the new year AND only 21 days until Ash Wednesday.

So let me ask you: What resolutions did you make on January 1 that are already broken?

Do not despair. I believe the most important resolutions are those made for Lent. That’s 40 days of doing something spiritually and not necessarily giving up anything --- no drinking, smoking, eating chocolates, whatever. That’s on you.

What IS important is that you make one serious resolution for those 40 days: meditate, pray, help others, and begin thinking about the journey Christ will be taking during that very solemn Passion Week.

There are very few weeks on the Christian calendar that have such significance as Passion Week. As we get closer to Lent, I’ll share with you some thoughts about making every day a meaningful day during that week.

The clock is ticking. There are only 21 days left until Lent, so it’s not too early to start thinking about your resolution for those 40 days.
