Rev. Debbie Dehler November 18, 2024

As requested by so many after our fellowship meal on November 10, here is a rough recipe from Rev. Debbie. (She doesn't use a recipe and will substitute based on what's in the kitchen.)

Please note this is a single recipe. (Debbie+ doubled it for church)

Tater-tot Hot Dish

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (or turkey, chicken or pork--a crumbled meat alternative could work)

1 chopped onion (small-medium)

1 rib celery, chopped

1 can cream of mushroom (or celery, or chicken

1/2 cup sour cream (roughly)

1/2 cup milk (roughly)

1 bag frozen mixed veggies

1 cup shredded cojack (or cheddar) cheese or a can of cream of cheddar soup

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Black pepper

3 pounds tater tots

Durkee Fried onions (optional)

Directions:

Brown 1 pound ground beef (or turkey) with onion and celery. Drain any fat/liquid.

In separate bowl combine next 7 items. Spices: to taste, or a good sprinkle to cover the contents of the bowl. No salt--there's enough in the soups and can be added on the plate. Add meat mixture. Stir well.

Grease your casserole dish or cake pan. Place a layer of tater tots on the bottom. Cover with meat-soup-veggie mixture. Top with tater tots.

Oven 350

Bake 30 minutes

Top with fried onions (optional)

Increase oven temperature to 400.

Bake another 30-60 minutes, or until bubbly and tater tots look crispy.

Enjoy!
