A 40-day Journey

Fr. Jim Trimble March 09, 2014

The Season of Lent, which began on Ash Wednesday, is a 40-day journey towards the celebration of Easter.

Along this journey, we travel with Jesus as He begins his trek to Jerusalem, the events of his Passion, and his death at the hands of the Romans and Jewish Leaders. It is a time of stillness, silence, and self-reflection. In the Church, it can manifested in different ways — the color will be purple, a penitent color, as well as the color of royalty; the liturgy and prayers change, the music will reflect more somber and quiet praise. Practice the Five “R’s”: Read, Reflect, Repent, Re-New, and Reach Out.
