2023 Stewardship (Annual Giving) Campaign

Why I Give

I have and will continue to pledge my commitment to St. James because of how much this Church and our faith community means to me – now as much as ever.

It still seems like just yesterday when Maurissa and I loaded up our U-Haul truck with all of our possessions 5 years ago and headed east on Route 66 toward Kentucky with family in tow for my relocation with UPS.

We planted our roots quickly and found a welcoming parish at St. James; between Rev. Elizabeth Back’s sparkle, the kind and friendly members of the Church, and against the backdrop of our wonderful music program and the beloved Church grounds, our large family felt at home.

Fast forward to 2022: after a global pandemic, losing our rector, and losing friends and loved ones, it is Christ and this Church community that has anchored us together, a rock of consistency.

Not only is our worship sacred, but for many – speaking personally – it has been a source of peace and hope more than ever, a bright light in a tumultuous dark world.

At Sherry Sabin’s service, I heard multiple people including Rev. Suzanne Barrow mention “Be the light,” and I can’t think of a better way to describe both how this Church lights the way for us, and how in turn, each of us come together when needed to lift up the Church.

The Stewardship Campaign is the major vehicle for us to maintain worship, ministries and day-to-day operations, and allows the Vestry to budget finances for the next year. This will be especially important once we receive our new Rector.

I hope you join me in pledging my commitment to St. James Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley, so we can continue the legacy of the church and to support our mission of Loving People, Serving People
